3 Day Fast for Weight Loss

Fasting basically means to abstain from something for a certain amount of time. Many people use fasting as a means to lose weight and detoxify their body. The three-day fast, more commonly known as the three-day diet, is a popular Internet fad diet that has been around since 1985. This fasting diet is based on a specific meal plan that promises up to 10 pounds of weight loss in three days. According to WebMD, the diet also promises to lower your cholesterol, give you an increased amount of energy, and cleanse your body.

Fasting Diet Meal Plan

    You must follow the 3 day fasting diet exactly as outlined to get good results. To achieve the weight loss that this fasting diet promises, eat exact portions. Do not overeat or undereat on this fast. Also, drink at least 4 cups of water daily. If you don't like grapefruit or grapefruit juice, replace it with an orange or orange juice instead. Use cooking spray to prepare your egg and meat, if desired. The only condiments you may use during this fast are mustard, salt, and pepper. You may also use an unlimited amount of fresh lemon juice. Use the lemon to add flavor to your meat, tuna or water. Finally, do not use this fasting diet for longer than three days straight. If you wish to do the diet again, wait at least four days.

    Day 1

    For breakfast eat 1 slice of toast with 1 tbsp. peanut butter, 1/2 grapefruit or grapefruit juice, and 1 cup of black tea or coffee sweetened with an artificial sweetener.

    For lunch eat 1 slice of toast, 1/2 cup of tuna fish, and 1 cup of black tea or coffee sweetened with an artificial sweetener.

    For dinner eat 3 ounces of lean chicken or meat, 1 cup of carrots, 1 cup of green beans, 1 whole apple and 1 cup of plain vanilla ice cream.

    Day 2

    For breakfast eat 1 slice of toast, 1 egg, 1/2 banana, and 1 cup of black tea or coffee sweetened with an artificial sweetener.

    For lunch eat 1 cup of cottage cheese or tuna fish and 8 saltine crackers

    For dinner eat 2 beef hot dogs, 1 cup of cabbage or broccoli, 1/2 cup of carrots, 1/2 banana, and 1/2 cup of plain vanilla ice cream.

    Day 3

    For breakfast eat 1 apple, 1 ounce of cheddar cheese with 5 saltine crackers and 1 cup of black tea or coffee sweetened with an artificial sweetener.

    For lunch eat 1 slice of toast, 1 boiled egg and 1 cup of black tea or coffee sweetened with an artificial sweetener.

    For dinner eat 1 cup of tuna fish, 1 cup of cauliflower, 1 cup of carrots, 1 cup of melon (any kind) and 1/2 cup of plain vanilla ice cream.
