Foods That Cure GERD

Foods That Cure GERD

GERD, simply put, is the upward movement of stomach contents into the esophagus. These contents frequently enter into the mouth and sometimes exit it as well. Many times the contents contain the stomach acids, which over time can destroy the enamel of the teeth and cause sore throats, as well as create abdominal discomfort. There are measures that can be taken to help prevent the symptoms of GERD from occurring, and if practiced on a continuous basis, may lead to a cure of the condition.

Significance

Food management plays a large role in the process of naturally curing GERD. This includes controlling the amount of food you eat as well as the types of food you consume.

Treated Water

Drink water that has been treated with cumin seed. The cumin will decrease the intensity of the attack as well as reduce the occurrence of gas and flatulence in the stomach.

Vanilla Ice Cream

When a quick onset of heartburn occurs, consume one cup of vanilla ice cream. This will cure the burning sensation caused by the stomach acid.

Ginger

Combining ginger root and honey, mixing it in water and drinking it will control the heartburn caused by GERD, eventually controlling the condition and the pain associated with it.

Chilled Milk

Drinking a glass of fat-free chilled milk every two hours will help prevent the onset of GERD and the heartburn that accompanies it. If you are lactose intolerant, drink boiled water that has been chilled.

Considerations

To completely control GERD, you must be vigilant about the foods you eat as well as implementing the methods mentioned here. In addition, eating smaller portions at a slower pace will also help prevent GERD from occurring.
